A Legacy in Point Leamington

Nestled along the picturesque shores of Notre Dame Bay, The Canadian Glove Museum resides in a building rich with history. Originally constructed as a garage and storage shed, the structure has been expanded over the years to accommodate the growing needs of Superior Glove, a proud Canadian manufacturer. Today, some of the original wood from the building’s earliest days still lines the museum’s hallway wall—a warm reminder of its humble beginnings. This site is more than just a former glove plant. It’s a space where generations of team members have worked for decades with care and pride, helping to build a legacy rooted in craftsmanship, innovation, and community.

Tony’s Vision – Honouring the Craft

Tony Geng, President of Superior Glove and founder of The Canadian Glove Museum, envisioned a space that would celebrate the rich history and cultural significance of gloves. Recognizing the pivotal role gloves play in safety, fashion, sports, and industry, he established the museum as a tribute to both craftsmanship and community.

He chose Newfoundland not only because of Superior Glove’s deep roots in Point Leamington, but also for its character—resilient, creative, and proudly unique. The museum reflects the very spirit of the province: a little quirky, full of heart, and grounded in tradition. It's a natural home for a collection that tells stories of protection, innovation, and human connection.

Connecting with Our Community

Our exhibits showcase a diverse collection—from vintage work gloves to memorabilia worn by iconic figures like Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, and Elvis Presley. Visitors can also engage in interactive activities, such as crafting their own mini-gloves, and explore the Superior Glove plant to witness modern glove-making innovations firsthand. We proudly offer free admission, reflecting our commitment to making history accessible to all and strengthening our bond with the community.
