Donate an Item

At The Canadian Glove Museum, we carefully preserve, display, and study gloves of historical and cultural significance. Donations play a vital role in expanding our collection and sharing glove history with visitors.

1. How can I donate an item to the Canadian Glove Museum?
If you have a glove or related item you’d like to donate, please contact us at info@thecanadianglovemuseum.com or call +1 709-484-3596. Sending photographs and background details helps us evaluate the offer.
2. What types of items does the museum collect?
We collect gloves, glove-making tools, historical documents, and related artifacts that showcase the craftsmanship, industry, and cultural significance of gloves in Canada and beyond. Additionally, we are also looking for interactive artifacts related to gloves, such as signed hockey jerseys, sports memorabilia, film and television props, or other culturally significant items that showcase the role of gloves in different industries and historical moments.
3. What information should I provide about my item?
To assess a donation, we ask for: A description of the item(s), the item’s history (e.g., where it came from, who made or used it), and photos, if possible, including any labels or distinguishing features.
4. How does the museum decide what to accept?
Due to space and preservation needs, we consider the item’s relevance to glove history, gaps in our collection it may fill, condition and storage requirements, legal or ethical considerations.
5. Can I drop off items without an appointment?
We prefer that you call ahead before bringing in any items to ensure that a team member is available to assist you. Unscheduled drop-offs may not be accepted if staff are unavailable.
6. Can you tell me how much my item is worth?
We do not provide appraisals or monetary valuations.
